SLOW DESIGN, FROM CONCEPT TO SHAPE, EVERY OBJECT IN YOUR HOME HAS A STORY TO TELL
Muka Design lab is a Bilbao-based design studio, specialised in furniture, small electrical appliances and product, formed by Laxmi Nazabal and Lucas Abajo.
They conceive products within the Slow Design concept, a different working philosophy that strengthens local economy collaborating with small artisans and workshops, and also using local materials.
It is not a matter of dismissing new manufacturing techniques but of recovering the forgotten ones, which provide a personal, different, long-lasting and sustainable identity to product.
Laxmi and Lucas create designs that balance form, function, aesthetics, colours, materials, finishes and applied graphics.
Their work has been internationally recognised by leading design and architecture magazines and publications; it has been finalist in different contexts and awarded in many occasions; recently the Revés Chair has been rewarded with the Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2015.
The Red Dot Award is one of the most prestigious international prizes, given by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen, which recognises the most innovative design concepts under different categories.
