DIRECTORS OF THE LONDON DESIGN FESTIVAL AND TOKYO DESIGNERS WEEK INAUGURATED THE BAWARDS CONCEPT DESIGN FESTIVAL
A festival of conceptual design, created to promote design in the Basque Country and to engage in a dialogue with international design key agents.
The Director of the London Design Festival, Ben Evans, and Kenji Kawasaki, Director of the Tokyo Designers Week, representing the two most important and most prestigious design competitions in the world, opened the Bilbao Bizkaia BAwards Concept Design Festival.
The Festival is an excellent platform to promote the high quality of Basque design taking the best at local and international level, going even further and making it a global event.
Five categories, being design the common link:
Habitat: new designs and developments as an improvement of external and internal environments, to create a pleasant environment to live in.
Audiovisual communication: leading role for graphic design in its different facets and formats.
Public Spaces: from the point of view of the continuing recovery and improvement in a humanizing dimension.
Products: Concepts and brilliant ideas that have not yet found a producer and are aimed at making easier the everyday.
Transport and Mobility: as proposals for urban mobility for pedestrians, with minimal environmental impact.
The following Universities: Kyoto Technological Institute, London College of Communication, Beckmans College of Design Stockholm, Parsons School of New York and the Politecnico di Milano, also attended this edition of the BAwards, together with the University of the Basque Country, Mondragón Unibertsitatea and the University of Navarra.
