NEW ART IS BORN IN THE UNIVERSITY AND MAKES ITS DEBUT IN BILBAO’S SHOPS
The setting for the exhibition of the artworks is not the usual. A new challenge for the young students of the Fine Arts Faculty of the University of the Basque Country.
They face the challenge of presenting their works in new exhibition areas, specifically, in a shop in Bilbao. The context has never been so important before; artwork may be surrounded by very distinct elements such as exotic fruits, trend-setting clothes, motorbikes, books or classic jewellery, evoking a wide range of sensations. It is a big bet and surprise is guaranteed.
The project has been well received. Only some of the artists had the opportunity to present their work and with few possibilities of reaching the general public. Arteshop opens its doors to an exchange of enriching experiences for both parties: the artists and the commercial establishments. There are no prior requirements for the materials or the format of the artwork that is going to be born. A dialogue with the surroundings, however, is necessary. The young students of the Fine Arts Faculty are thrown into a demanding reality outside of the protective perimeters of their workshops and classrooms.
The result is surprising, vital and full of energy. Young and daring art. The route along the shops hosting Arteshop is an attractive walk through a unique exhibition. This yearly competition that takes places in the shops of Bilbao has become a must for art enthusiasts.
